About Us

The history of Project '44

For the past three years our small team have been using maps to build groundbreaking content that is changing how the public interacts with history. Starting with our innovative Project ’44, the entire history of the Liberation of North-West Europe was captured on an easy to use web map, combining digitized war diaries form Library Archives Canada.

With more then 70,000 mapped positions, and over 5,000 pages of war diaries, Project '44 has made the Second World War accessible to millions of people around the world.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Project '44 is run and administered by the Canadian Research and Mapping Association (CRMA), a not for profit based in Ottawa Ontario. Your support helps pay for the costs of hosting Project '44 and the continued improvement of the web map.
